The Official "Antique Capital Of West Texas"...Baird, (named the official "Antique Capital of West Texas" in 1993) is a small, thriving town located in green, rolling hills, an unexpected delight in west Texas. The town has over 20 antique shops and malls which offer antiques from many eras and countries. One of the shops also has an old fashioned soda fountain and there are several craft shops.
The old Texas and Pacific Railroad Depot...is a first-class museum and contains railroad memorabilia and other interesting artifacts. The old rock jail house and Callahan County Courthouse are two other interesting sites.
Baird...also has a candy factory that ships lollipops world-wide, an 18-hole golf course with pro shop, several restaurants and lots of friendly people.
The slow, relaxed pace of Baird offers excellent shopping opportunities and a great place to get away for a few days.
Area Activities...Enjoy the Art Show in March, a Trades Festival with Rodeo in June an annual Cowboy Fall Reunion Parade in October.
Hunting...The area is a hunter's paradise with plenty of ground cover and mesquite trees. Whitetail deer, turkey, dove and quail are abundant.
