The Fort Griffin Fandangle is a gentle satire of life at the famous lively and lusty town of Griffin, Texas. This nationally-known western musical and historical show is held every year during the last two weekends in June, just outside Albany. Thousands of people attend each year.
The old Jail house in itself is a site to see, from the front entrance to the courtyard.
Hubbard Creek Lake...This nearby picturesque lake covers 15,250 acres with 100 miles of shoreline. Fishing is excellent all year; boat rentals are available or launch your own at several public or commercial ramps. This lake is also great for swimming, sailing and water skiing. Shackelford County...is a popular hunting area for dove, quail, turkey, hogs and whitetail deer.
Fort Griffin State Historical Park...Preserves the remains of the 1867's military outpost named Fort Griffin. The mission of Fort Griffin was to protect settlers, travelers, buffalo hunters and cattle herds from Indian raids. Visitors may tour the fort, its original stone buildings and reconstructed wooden structures. Part of the official Texas longhorn herd graze in the pastures of the park.
